Pigmentation & Age Spot Treatment

Uneven pigmentation — including sun damage, age spots, melasma, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation — is one of the most common concerns we treat. Whether caused by UV exposure, hormones, inflammation, or ageing, pigmentation can make the skin appear dull, tired, or patchy.

At our clinic, we use a multi-layered, personalised approach to treat and manage pigmentation safely and effectively. Following a full consultation and skin assessment, we may recommend a combination of chemical peels, topical protocols, laser treatments, plasma, and at-home skincare to fade pigment, brighten the complexion, and prevent recurrence.

Sun spots (solar lentigines)
Age spots (liver spots)
Melasma (hormonal pigmentation)
Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (e.g. after acne or injury)

What to Expect During Treatment

Pigmentation treatments are selected based on depth, type, and your Fitzpatrick skin type. Superficial pigment can respond quickly to peels or CryoPen®, while deeper or hormonal pigment (e.g. melasma) requires a longer-term commitment with carefully selected active ingredients and in-clinic support.

Peels and plasma treatments may involve mild redness, flaking, or crusting depending on intensity. You’ll receive full aftercare instructions and sun protection guidance.

Results and Maintenance

Visible improvement can often be seen within 2–4 weeks, but longer-term pigment issues (like melasma) may take a course of treatments and consistent home care. Maintenance typically includes topical brighteners, sun protection, and occasional top-up treatments every few months.

FAQs

Some types (like age spots or sun spots) can be removed permanently with peels, CryoPen®, or plasma. Others, like melasma, are chronic conditions that can be managed and significantly improved, but require maintenance and trigger awareness.

Yes — we use pigment-safe peels and protocols appropriate for all Fitzpatrick types. A consultation ensures we choose the safest and most effective options for your skin.

Triggers can include sun exposure, hormones, heat, inflammation, and some medications. Ongoing skincare and sun protection are key to preventing recurrence.

This depends on the severity and type of pigmentation. Some clients see great results after 1–3 sessions, while others (especially with melasma or PIH) benefit from a longer-term plan.

Absolutely. We often incorporate pigment protocols into bespoke facials, microneedling, LED, and plasma shower treatments for optimal results.
